MELBOURNE HERE WE COME!
Everything is in readiness for the Qld contingent of Superfit Vets players to take the Australian Championships by storm in Melbourne from 26 Sept to 11 October!
A huge thank you needs to be extended to all the managers who have been working frantically organising the support for the teams. Also a huge thank you to Paul Hardie who has been collating the uniform orders and to Warren Flower, Steve Billingham and Ross McLennan who have been organising substitute players, and the accommodation. This in itself has been no small feat as there have been numerous replacements organised due to players withdrawing from teams because of injury etc. Every time there is a replacement it means a change to the uniform order, changes to the official program list, and more importantly changes to the configuration of room sharing especially if partners are accompanying.
Good Luck to all players. To those of you who will wear the Qld shirt for the first time, savour the experience as there is nothing quite like the feeling of representing your
State as you run on to the field that first time. To all the old hands, the responsibility, the thrill and the excitement of representing your State is something I know you do not take for granted and everyones game lifts accordingly.
Importantly, the Mens Vets Hockey Competitions provide the opportunity to make and renew friendships with other players both from Quensland and interstate. May your time in Melbourne be as rewarding and as much fun off the field as it is on the field. To this end we would hope that all Qld players make an effort to watch as many other Qld games as possible during the fortnight of the championships to encourage your hockey mates.
